Case study 5

Air sealing using industrial rope access

Galaxy Buildings, Brussels, Belgium

The brief was as follows:

  • Air-seal 16 internal ducts, throughout full depth of 28 storeys
  • Pressure tested successfully on contract completion without one failure

Client asked us to repair his external banners during the contract.

Options: Rope Access

Value

Air leakage is the unintended infiltration of air through the building envelope. We were asked to complete this air duct sealing process on the new-build twin towers of North and South Galaxy. Each duct was approximately 2.5m by 1m, and 130m deep - thus giving a particular access problem.

Client extremely happy with the task - for which there was no other solution but rope access.
